NASA has discovered organic matter on Mars. The ‘rover’ sent by them has found the existence of different types of organic matter in the rocks of Mars. And these anus have been found in areas where there used to be lakes. Therefore, space researchers believe that this information has strengthened the existence of life on the Red Planet.
However, many say that the presence of such anus does not prove the existence of life on Mars. According to Sunanda Sharma, an astronomer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, in an article published in the journal Nature, biology is the molecular building block of life. But it is not directly related to life. It can also form from various geological processes. As such we see multiple signals, which are also associated with crater floors and mineral deposits.
Note that in February 2021, the Perseverance rover landed in Jezero Crater on Mars. It is an area in the north pole of the planet, which was flooded several times and also contained an ancient basin.
Scientists have long suspected that Jezero Crater was once inhabited by life. They believe that river channels spread over the crater wall and formed a lake 3.5 million years ago.
How did scientists find organic matter?
Evidence of organic matter on Mars came from an instrument called SHERLOC, which is located on the six-wheeled rover’s robotic arm. It uses cameras, a laser and instruments called spectrometers to analyze organic molecules as well as search for accurate maps.
