New Delhi: Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas and Iran’s proxy, issued a statement on Monday. And it said dozens of Katyusha rockets were fired at the army headquarters in northern Israel. According to media reports, the Lebanese militant group said it was a retaliatory move for an operation targeting villages in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) again reported that it had intercepted about 35 rockets fired from the direction of Lebanon that crossed northern Israel and landed in the Ein Zeitim area. According to them, no casualty was reported. And the rockets fired also hit these bases or sources.
The IDF said the source of the attack was the Arzoun area in southern Lebanon. Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7 triggered the Gaza war. Since then, the Israeli army and Iran-backed Hezbollah have exchanged fire along the border almost daily.
As a result, the Israel-Iran conflict has escalated. Lebanon’s Shiite militias are increasingly targeting Israeli military bases along the border. Hizbollah issued a statement saying it fired dozens of Katyusha rockets at the headquarters of the 91st Division’s 3rd Infantry Brigade at the Ain Zeitim base. This was in response to recent Israeli attacks on southern villages and civilian homes such as Srifa, Odaiseh and Rab Tlanitin.
According to a report by Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), three villages were attacked by Israelis on Monday. At least 376 people have been killed in Lebanon since October 7. Most of them are Hezbollah fighters. There are also about 70 citizens. Meanwhile, Israel said 10 soldiers and 8 civilians were killed along the border.
