A Vistara spokesperson said, ‘Due to the current situation affecting parts of the Middle East, we are rerouting some of our flights. Contingency routes that are kept available to ensure operational continuity during such situations are being used instead. This may result in longer flight times on certain routes and associated delays. The situation is being closely monitored and further changes will be made if necessary.”
Carrier and its partner Austrian Airlines said their planes would no longer use Iranian airspace. The official statement quoted “the current situation in the Middle East”. Iran is primarily served by Turkish and Middle Eastern airlines, with Lufthansa as the only Western carrier currently serving Tehran. Due to the current situation, Lufthansa is suspending flights to and from Tehran until Thursday, April 18. The airline is no longer using Iranian airspace, a company spokesman said.
Qantas Airways has temporarily rerouted its services to avoid Middle Eastern airspace. Flight QF9 from Perth to London will now fly via Singapore for fuel outages for the next few days as the company monitors the situation. A Qantas spokesperson confirmed that the QF10 return flight (as well as other routes out of London) was not affected. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will no longer fly over Israel and Iran. Press agency ANP quoted a spokesman for the Dutch arm of Air France-KLM as adding that the carrier would continue to fly to Tel Aviv (on Israel’s Mediterranean coast).
