For a long time, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has created many milestones in space research by making many unprecedented projects. Recently, the company has again brought forward a big information. Last Thursday, ISRO announced that they will launch 36 satellites of the United States Global Connection Network OneWeb (OneWeb) into space through India’s heaviest launcher LVM3 or Launch Vehicle Mark III in the third or fourth week of this month. It should be noted that until now, Elon Musk’s SpaceX, one of the world’s richest men, has dominated all commercial space operations. However, it is needless to say that the Indian Space Research Organization is also going to make a special place in the global commercial launch service market by joining the activity with OneWeb.
In this context, ISRO’s commercial arm ‘Newspace India Limited’ has signed 2 service contracts with OneWeb for launching broadband communication satellites in Low-Earth Orbit (LEO). Under the agreement, ISRO will conduct two launches for OneWeb, which will deploy a total of 72 satellites in the company’s constellation. These satellites will complete OneWeb’s constellation, and the launch will be successfully carried out by India’s heaviest and most powerful satellite launch vehicle, the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mk.III rocket.
How exactly will ISRO support OneWeb’s satellite internet service?
To let you know, OneWeb is a global connection network operated by a group of 648 Low-Earth Orbit or LEO satellites. The main objective of the organization is to provide connectivity through the cluster of LEO satellites all over the world. The satellites to be launched this month will be part of OneWeb’s intended constellation of 648 low-Earth orbit satellites, which will help build part of the global satellite Internet network, ISRO said. Note that once these satellites are launched, they will be spread out in a relay configuration to cover the entire world, and will initially provide Internet connectivity to multiple companies around the world.
Due to this, what benefits will the people of the world get?
After reading what I have said so far, everyone must understand that this satellite launch will help the people of the world in many ways. According to experts, this connectivity can be used for various purposes. This connectivity will primarily provide backhaul bandwidth to agricultural, forestry and mineral resource data analytics, and telecom companies to augment their terrestrial networks. Simply put, this joint venture of ISRO and OneWeb will provide high-speed connectivity services to governments, businesses and the general public. In this context, Bharti Airtel, the country’s second largest telecom company, is also a major investor and shareholder of OneWeb. As a result, it is needless to say that India’s direct communication on several issues related to the world of space will definitely help to increase the reputation of this country manifold.
