Muijzu apologizes, why such a claim of the opposition of the Maldives?

Abdullah Shahid, the president of the main opposition party of the island nation, Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), demanded an apology from him. Because Muijju’s anti-India position came to power. Maldivian economy has also been affected due to anti-India.

The MoU was signed between the two countries during Jaishankar’s visit to Maldives. MoU signed between National Payments Corporation of India and Ministry of Economic Development and Commerce of Maldives. Through which UPI service is going to be launched in that country. It goes without saying that Muizzur’s address to India as ‘friend’ during this visit is quite significant. Because the ‘pro-Chinese’ President Muijju set a deadline for the removal of Indian troops from the country after coming to power. Since then, Maldives has been involved in conflict with India. Adding fuel to the fire were the offensive comments made by three ministers in his government about Narendra Modi. But that Muizjui was present at the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He even had a meeting with Namo. In recent times, the number of Indian tourists to the island nation has dropped to a record low. The amount of debt to Delhi is also huge. As a result, anger is spreading within the island nation.

In this situation, MDP leader Abdullah Shahid said, “Maldives’ diplomatic position has been greatly damaged due to the previous decisions, false statements and irresponsible actions of the Muijju government.” Incidentally, Muijju said in an official function on Saturday, “India has always been a very close friend of Maldives. And very important companions. They have extended their helping hand whenever Maldives is in need.” Muijju is also heard to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. As a result, the international community is looking at how deep the India-Maldives friendship is by repairing the wounds in the future.
