Kolkata: WhatsApp provides UPI payment facility for users in India. Which can easily compete with UPI apps like Paytm, Google Pay and PhonePe. However, this messaging app has to burn a lot of wood to get the people of the country to use their payment features. That is about to change very soon. Courtesy of the upcoming update of WhatsApp.
Android users are getting a shortcut for UPI payment QR code in the latest WhatsApp beta version. This feature will come to the messaging app in the next few months.
WeBetaInfo shared details about this upcoming feature this week. A screenshot of the messaging app was also shared. Where users can get QR code scanner on chat screen.
WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.7.3 will get QR code scanner shortcut. But select few users will get it. This is known from the post. The main chat screen in the same tab, where the camera and search icons are visible, is where the QR code scanner will be found.
When the user clicks on that QR code scanner, the code will be read by WhatsApp to enable UPI payment. That means no more going through multiple loops to send money to other UPI accounts.
After using the payment feature available on WhatsApp, many people have faced problems in making payments. For which it did not gain such popularity. It is expected that more users will be able to use the WhatsApp payment feature with the help of the UPI payment shortcut.
Incidentally, UPI is the most popular digital payment mode in the country. Where crores of rupees are traded every month. Most people today depend on Google Pay and PhonePe for payments. But WhatsApp has almost 400 million subscribers. As a result, they are also going to be successful in this payment segment.
