Because passwords are saved in the cloud on users’ phones and computers. Users can log in to apps and websites on other devices using a passkey stored on their phone.

Passkey works mainly in two ways:

First of all, It allows users to securely create a passkey through Google Password Manager, on Android devices. That passkey can be used later instead of the password. As a result, there is no need to worry about passwords falling into the wrong hands.

secondly, With the WebAuthentic API, app and website developers will be able to provide Passkey for users across multiple platforms.

Companies building apps and websites can use Chrome Canary and test it right now by signing up for a trial on Google Play. Later this year, Google will roll out the feature to everyone.
